Spice’s New Ring made by ErosMoon.
Spice cannot wear her collar all the time. Much as she revels in the comfort its presence provides, the confidence of knowing that she is loved, cherished and Owned as she desires, and as she has chosen to be.
We looked at a number of public friendly options, and I have made several collars for her that are more vanilla safe, but none that would be acceptable for work and some other occasions. After consideration, I started to look for another token to make carry the physical presence of our commitment to each other, finally arriving on a ring as the best choice, and on the “Ring of O” as an image that would carry a message within our community, without exposing too much to others.
I have a bit of a control problem, and a wide streak of perfectionism, and a desire to “make it myself” in all things (as you might notice from my handmade toy posts) in part because i enjoy the process, and in part because I like to control the outcome.
I saw a lot of beautiful work, but the rings I saw were all a bit too faithful to the collar and shackle theme for every day wear. The prominent shackles and loose o-rings on the surface did not please me. I know a bit about making jewelry, but really don’t have the level of skill I needed, but much of the work I saw certainly spoke to the image in my mind. So I started “redefining” the image to get to better meet my preferences, hoping that one of the artists would be able to reproduce what I wanted.
I started with simple images, sketched on an e-pad - a medium I am not comfortable with - but which lent itself to sending along to jewelers with my request for a custom work.
Fetin at ErosMoon was among my favorites. Her work on Etsy showed skill, and certainly the range of construction techniques I needed, and already had a number of items that demonstrated her comfort with the medium, and with the Fetish/Kinky/BDSM community. She had several examples of the “Ring of O” already available, just none that I quite loved as much as the image in my head. I started by sending a request for custom work, then changed a few e-mails with her, sending my humble sketches once I knew she was not mean, and wouldn’t laugh (at least in e-mail) and shortly she sent me back images of 3 “mock ups” she had put together, that I thought were just lovely. While she kept pointing out that they we “just mock ups she had made as part of the artistic process - not finished.”
Well, I could not have been more pleased, protestations notwithstanding, and after measuring Spice’s finger again, asked her to make the ring as depicted in the final image.
Even now its on its way to us, and I am thinking of the best how and when, and the manner and ceremony in which to set this ring upon her hand. I know she is about to burst out of her skin, as she has been tracking the progress as it shipped to Ireland, then New York, then the nearest city. She keeps sending me updates, and using unladylike language when it sits in one place for more than 24 hours. I am reminded of the all seeing eye tracking those little hobbits… Pity for poor Golum should he interfere, no doubt her gaze alone would melt him.
More - including images of the final, and perhaps Spices hand (*gasp*) once we have a chance to open and enjoy next week.
*SpiceNWolf are not affiliated with ErosMoon in any way - other than to be the grateful recipients of her artistry. But I was so pleased with her willingness to work with my ideas, and to turn them into reality for incredibly reasonable rate that I just had to include a rave about her work, as I think it will appeal to many.
